Music is not just a combination of harmony, melody, and rhythm, but perhaps more importantly a social product. Music and society are two interrelated areas in human evolution that continue to exist in enriching humanity.
What can music teach us about our society?
How the manifestation of music is inseparable from changes in society?
Artists exist in society, and through music, sometimes, they also transcend the societal institutions that allow them to exist. Artists are a unique individual in the social group who help masses to make sense with politics, economy and culture with emotional honesty in expressing perspectives through songs and music. The expression of music and perspectives are important, particularly they have moral implications.
Azmyl’s performance lecture will touch on music subcultures in advancing the common good and morality in Malaysia.
